What does the teaching portfolio include?
The portfolio brings together books, self-paced courses, live instruction, workshops and public speaking. It spans Packt, Leanpub, Udemy, YouTube and combined DevCamp/Bottega teaching. This is a cross-platform body of work, not an entry associated with one employer or a claim that all learners attended the same program.
The record pairs scaled educational content with instruction at the keyboard. The featured HTML/CSS course covers responsive websites, the Ruby course includes object-oriented programming and testing, and the React workshop includes starter and completed code. These are approved samples rather than a claim that the entire portfolio is represented here.
Which books and instructional work are credited?
I authored three Packt books, one co-authored: Comprehensive Ruby Programming, Skill Up: A Software Developer’s Guide to Life and Career, and The TypeScript Workshop. I also self-published The Freelancer Manifesto on Leanpub. The TypeScript title retains co-author attribution; Leanpub is separate from Packt.
My teaching record includes 16 Udemy courses, 111,045 students and a 4.5 instructor rating in the approved October 2026 snapshot. The rating is an instructor rating, not a rating assigned to each featured course. Course enrollment is also separate from live instruction and overall curriculum reach.
Where can someone watch the teaching?
The public samples include a live React workshop and the archival “RubyHACK 2018: Machine Learning Microservices in Rails by Jordan Hudgens” recording. The React workshop demonstrates a custom hook for responsive application features. Confreaks published the RubyHACK recording on July 5, 2018; it presents a practical approach to machine-learning algorithms in Rails applications.
The recording publication date is not treated as a confirmed conference presentation day or as the start date of the entire teaching portfolio. The RubyHACK recording is an archival talk, not a current AI tutorial or a production deployment case study. Confreaks is the publisher, not Jordan’s own YouTube channel.
- Responsive HTML/CSS course
- Ruby programming with object-oriented programming and testing
- Live React workshop with starter and completed code
- Archival RubyHACK conference talk

How should the audience figures be interpreted?
Curricula used by 250,000+ learners, 111,045 Udemy students, 41.9K YouTube subscribers and 10M views measure different, potentially overlapping populations. Live instruction covered several thousand engineers across combined DevCamp/Bottega and Udemy work, with cohorts from roughly a dozen to hundreds. The figures are not added into a unique-audience total.
The audience metrics are the approved October 2026 snapshot, not live counters. Curriculum reach is not equivalent to people personally taught live. Subscriber counts and video views are also not enrollments. Keeping the denominators separate makes the teaching scale useful without overstating individual instructional reach.
