What did the instructor-development system cover?
The program covered the work before someone taught and the development that followed. Required onboarding established teaching methodology and coursework; observations, dry runs and a formal cleared-to-teach rubric supported readiness. An ongoing training portal and weekly training and review meetings extended the system beyond initial onboarding.
This was an operating responsibility at Bottega University. The portal served instructors and support staff, and the broader role combined curriculum and product leadership with lead instruction, so the software supporting learning and the quality of instruction sat within the same remit.
What did Jordan personally own?
I built the full onboarding course set, owned teaching observations and dry runs, and used a formal cleared-to-teach rubric. I also managed all instructors, including contract instructors, and made hiring, performance-review and contract-renewal decisions. These responsibilities sat within my Chief Technology Officer & Lead Technical Instructor role.
Alongside instructor management, I led a mixed team of up to 25 developers, instructors and support staff. That number describes the broader team, not an instructor-only count. Instructor development was one part of a combined education, product and technology leadership role.
- Required onboarding before teaching
- Teaching observations and dry runs
- Formal cleared-to-teach rubric
- Instructor hiring, reviews and contract renewals

How did preparation connect to ongoing development?
Preparation began with the onboarding courses and continued through observed teaching and formal clearance. Ongoing development used the training portal, custom applications for training and visibility, and weekly training and review meetings. The work included both instructional processes and the tools used by instructors and support staff.
The process diagram maps the confirmed responsibilities in order: prepare, observe, clear and develop. It is a retrospective summary of the program, not a historical rubric or a screenshot of the portal, and it adds no stages, pass criteria or timelines.
What evidence shows the scope of the work?
The confirmed record establishes required onboarding, observations, dry runs, formal clearance, personnel decisions and ongoing development. My Bottega role ran from October 2016 through July 2024 and included a mixed team of up to 25. The exact instructor count, pass rate and onboarding-time change are not established.
Live instruction is separately documented across combined DevCamp/Bottega and Udemy work: several thousand engineers taught live, with cohorts ranging from roughly a dozen to hundreds. That combined figure is not attributed to Bottega alone. Historical graduate career-tracking outcomes are presented separately on the teaching page, not as the measured result of this instructor program.

What does this case study not claim?
- The dates shown are the Bottega role tenure, not an inferred program launch date.
- The formal clearance process is confirmed; no externally issued instructor credential, monthly pass rate or time-to-clearance reduction is claimed.
- The portal served instructors and support staff. The mixed-team count is not an instructor count.
